Joel Anthony ’99 Becomes Co-Owner of the Montréal Alliance Basketball Team

On January 20, Joel Anthony '99, General Manager of the Montréal Alliance Basketball team and Selwyn House Old Boy, held a press conference at the Verdun Auditorium to share an exciting announcement. Alongside a group of investors, Joel has officially become the co-owner of the Montréal Alliance, a team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).
 
Joel began his journey at Selwyn House in Grade 7 in 1994 before continuing his education at Emmanuel Christian School in 1997 and later at Dawson College. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the world of sports, he was inducted into the Selwyn Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024.
 
Congratulations, Joel, on this remarkable achievement! You’ve cemented your place in basketball history, and the Selwyn House community couldn’t be prouder. Representing the school at the press conference were Grade 11 student Jaden D. and Physical Education teacher Mr. Marty Boyle. A sincere thank you to Ms. Anthony for her warm hospitality during the event.
 
Since founded in 2021 Joel has served as the Alliance’s General Manager. His vision and leadership continue to inspire the next generation of athletes and basketball enthusiasts.
