Students Explore Sustainability at QAIS Conference

On February 3, Mr. Grier, Ms. Begg, and Ms. Littman took three students: Yuri M. and Emir N. from Grade 10, along with Lucas Z. from Grade 8, to West Island College to participate in the first The Quebec Association of Independent Schools Leadership Conference in partnership with Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF).

The day began with an inspiring keynote speech by Nadia Ladak, co-founder of Marlow, a sustainable company in the women's health industry. Her underlying message, "know your why," encouraged our students to start thinking about the problems they would like to solve in their own worlds. Students then participated in a series of workshops focused on sustainability, climate action, and managing eco-anxiety. The day concluded with brainstorming sessions for potential projects that could be implemented at Selwyn.

Thanks to LSF, each school went home with seed money to support a student-led project. We are excited to see what our students will create!
