David Ihaza, Pre-U '24, Signs with University of Calgary Dinos Football Team!

Congratulations to David Ihaza, Pre-U '24 on being signed to the University of Calgary football team! On Friday, May 17, Ryan Sheahan, Head Football Coach of the Calgary Dinos, along with Offensive Coordinator Jabari Arthur and Defensive Coordinator Ben D'Andrea, flew from Calgary to Montreal for the official commitment signing.

 

David began his journey at Selwyn House School in our inaugural 2023-2024 Pre-University program, and we are thrilled to see him pursue his passions at the next level. Head of Football, Anthony Lukca, remarked that "he is as engaged in the classroom as he is on the football field." In addition to playing football, David has also joined his Gryphon teammates on the basketball court and rugby pitch.

 

David's achievement in becoming the first Grade 12 student to be directly signed to a team was greatly supported by Mr. Maurovich, Director of Athletics at Selwyn House School. Mr. Maurovich's extensive connections with numerous university and college sports teams across North America were instrumental in facilitating this opportunity. David's journey was further supported by the Pre-University team, who provided invaluable guidance, along with expert advice from Ms. Peterman, College & University Advisor, who diligently prepared him for the application process.
