This week, Selwyn House honoured Truth & Reconciliation Week by learning about the impact of residential schools on generations of Indigenous families. Assemblies throughout the week, led by Wáhiakatste Diome-Deer, the school’s consultant for the Indigenization Process, honoured Indigenous youth and celebrated Kanien'kehá:ka songs, culture and traditions. Among many guests, we welcomed back Brandon Montour ’14, who talked to Middle and Senior School about his time at SHS as an Indigenous student and what we can all do now to work towards a better future for Indigenous youth. A special shout out to Ryland Diome ’06 who worked with Chef Silvana to make us all strawberry juice and corn soup, and to our Indigenous Student Committee for serving the juice and presenting throughout the week.
