Leadership Change: Introducing Our Newly Appointed Board Chairs

SHA Board

Tom Pitfield ’93
is a proud Selwyn House Old Boy and parent, who with his wife, Anna Gainey, has three children  Audrey, Jackson ’26 and Ryan ’28. Mr. Pitfield has been a member of the SHA Board since 2011. 
Mr. Pitfield is currently Chief Executive Officer of Data Sciences, a world leading performance marketing firm  specializing in digital marketing, research and marketing analytics. He is also the Co-founder and Chair of Canada 2020, Canada’s leading progressive think tank.

Mr. Pitfield is a longtime advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Hon. Justin Trudeau, and played a leading  role in three consecutive Federal Elections, as well as in several other elections around the world. Prior to this role, he served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Leader of the Government in the Senate, the Hon. Jack Austin and as an e-business consultant for IBM Canada, where he helped to co-found the Toronto innovation center.

Civic-minded, Mr. Pitfield is Co-founder of Charitable Analytics International, which has designed and deployed award winning informatics systems for the World Food Program and has previously served on the boards of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC), Parkinson’s Society Canada and Pointe-à-Callière Museum in Montreal.

Mr. Pitfield earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors from Queen’s University’s John Smith School of Business and a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy, with merit, from the London School of Economics. He is fluent in English and French.
 
Veritas Fund Board
On December 5, 2023, Alan Rossy '79 assumed the role of Chair of the Veritas Fund Board. As an Old Boy and father of three children, daughter Michelle, and Selwyn House lifers William ’16 and Christopher ’22, the school holds a special place in his heart.
Mr. Rossy's longstanding connection with Selwyn House spans several years and includes serving as a member of the Old Boys' Association Board from 2004-2008, a Selwyn House Association Board member since 2007, and supporting many capital campaigns, galas, and the Student Success Centre. He has also been a Board Member of the Veritas Fund since 2005, which manages the school's Endowment. In 2023, he and his wife Roula were presented with the Speirs Medal as a tribute to their service to the SHS community.
In addition to his work with Selwyn House, Mr. Rossy has served on the Jewish General Hospital Foundation Board for over a decade and is dedicated to keeping the hospital's Microbiology Lab among the top laboratories in Canada. He is also a member of the Foundation Board of Ottawa's National Arts Center, which supports Canadian artists in showcasing their talents. Furthermore, he serves as the Chairman and President of St. George Orthodox Church of Montreal.
Mr. Rossy is a Founding Family member of Dollarama and serves as the President & CEO of Groupe Copley Properties.
 
Heartfelt appreciation for Trustees
At the Veritas Fund Annual General Meeting, John Hallward '78 (pictured right) was thanked for his ten years of dedicated service as Board Chair. Mr. Hallward has served as a Trustee since 1999 and will continue on the board. 
Veritas Trustee Peter Duffield '53 (pictured left) leaves the board after 43 years - an extraordinary length of service! Peter joined the board in 1980 when his sons Andrew '86 and Benjamin '88 attended Selwyn.
Trustee Bart Sambrook '79 (not pictured) steps down from the Veritas Fund Board after ten years of service, and also from the Lucas Foundation Board for which he has served for five years.
