Superheroes and Nemeses: A Spectacular Stage Show and Super Saturday Event
Batman, the Incredible Hulk and a variety of caped crusaders united on the Selwyn House School stage in the Senior School play "Superheroes" on April 5 and 6. The audience laughed its way through this energetic comedy as they witnessed what our beloved superheroes do when they are "off the job", things like doing taxes, and how to keep busy when crimes are slow. Our Senior Players then presented "Will You Be My Nemesis?", another fun comedy where Captain Battle and Dr. Nightmare search to find the enemy of their dreams. At the end of the evening performance, the cast received a standing ovation. Senior School Drama teacher and play director Lucy Martin shared how much she enjoyed working with this energetic cast.
The cast teamed up again with the Experiential Education Department to offer a thrilling day of superhero activities at the April 6 Super Saturday Community Day event. Families enjoyed an afternoon of board games, crafts, and delicious snacks followed by a "super" obstacle course. Over $1,000 was collected for the Hero Project at the Jewish General Hospital thanks to your generous donations at the box office.
Ms. Martin extends her gratitude to the cast members, student leaders, and Ms. Prieur, Director of Experiential Education, for their invaluable support of the event. The Parent Volunteer Association's generous contributions are also greatly appreciated. Makeup artistry was graciously provided by Ms. Gasparini, Senior School English teacher, and Ms. Poulin, Registrar. A special acknowledgment goes to Old Boys Jesse Caruso '17 for designing the show's poster and Stephen Baxter '13 for his outstanding work on fight choreography.
