Alumni Celebrated at Historic King Charles III Coronation Medal Ceremony

Selwyn House School is proud to share that three Old Boys, Jonathan Goldbloom ’72, Peter Kruyt ’73, and Tim Fleiszer ’92, were awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal on March 20 at the Westmount Armoury.

Jonathan received the medal for his steadfast advocacy for Quebec’s English-speaking community and his leadership in the Jewish community. A dedicated volunteer, he chairs the Hockey Canada Board and was recently appointed Chairperson of VIA Rail. He continues to uphold his family's legacy of public service.

Peter was honoured for his impactful and tireless community leadership. He serves as Chair of the McGill University Health Centre and its Research Centre, as well as Chair of Tennis Canada. In 2019, during his tenure as Chair of Concordia’s Board of Governors, he facilitated a $5.6 million donation to the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Tim was recognized for his advocacy and leadership in improving the lives of athletes, particularly through his dedication to education and protecting children in his role as Executive Director of the Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada.

In total, 30 individuals were honoured with this Canadian commemorative medal that was created to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation on May 6, 2023. Current SHS parent and local MP Anna Gainey presided over the ceremony. Headmaster Michael Downey, Director of Athletics Mike Maurovich, Director of Advancement Sharon Cozens, and Mrs. Courtney Beckerleg, member of our Board of Directors, were present to share in the celebration.
