Grade 6 Cooks Up a Delicious Final Genius Hour

On May 8, the final Genius Hour of the year took place in Ms. Symons' Grade 6 class. Genius Hour, an educational concept pioneered by Google, allows students to pursue passion projects during designated class time. This self-directed learning approach fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students delve into topics they're passionate about, fostering a sense of ownership over their education and encouraging innovation. With this foundation, Liam V. and Liam S. cooked steaks three different ways: pan-seared, reverse-seared, and sous-vide. They explained the cooking process and how each steak tasted with each respective cooking method. Their classmates all had an opportunity to sample them and then voted on their favourite method.
