Mr. Roy Speaks at South African International Boys' Schools Coalition Conference

On March 7, Mr. Roy, the Learning Strategist in Middle School, presented at the IBSC South Africa Conference at Hilton College in KwaZulu-Natal. His presentation, entitled "Demystifying Twice-Exceptionality," addressed pressing issues in identifying twice-exceptional learners—students who are both gifted and have disabilities. He proposed novel ways to reconceptualize notions of giftedness and provided educators from around the world with responsive approaches and effective pedagogical strategies to support the unique needs of these learners.

 

The conference theme, "Listening Loudly: Identifying and Amplifying the Quieter Voices," emphasized inclusion and the importance of recognizing and supporting neurodivergent students. Mr. Roy’s session contributed to this theme by expanding the notion of inclusion within educational environments. He disseminated knowledge on twice-exceptional profiles, advocating for a more comprehensive approach to learning and inclusion.
