Elementary School Students Captivated by a Modern Twist on Shakespeare

On December 2, students from Grade 3 to 6 were treated to a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. The two hour performance featured lovers chasing one another, fairies causing mischief, gods and goddesses fighting each other for ultimate control and a play being rehearsed by a bunch of untalented actors to boot! The play was translated into modern English and included pop culture references and a musical soundtrack of hits to make it more accessible to students. A student was brought onstage and the actors spoke to the audience in an exciting and interactive way. Thank you Shakespeare Canada! - Mr. Kennedy, Elementary School Performing Arts & Technology teacher
