Voix émergentes: Un appel à l'action climatique

L'École Selwyn House est fière d'avoir joué un rôle dans la manifestation du 16 mai intitulée « Voix émergentes: Un appel à l'action climatique. » Les élèves de St. George's School of Montreal, Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School -ECS , The Study, Montreal et Roslyn se sont rassemblées au King George Park pour prononcer des discours percutants soulignant l'importance cruciale de la gestion de l'environnement, tant au niveau local, provincial et fédéral.

Liam S. in Grade 6, captivated the audience with his insights on sustainable development, on the seven generations principle, on the needed acknowledgement that we are living in a climate crisis and on the importance of having municipal bylaws that are guided and driven by sustainability and regenerative standards. This event showcased the critical importance of empowering our youth. They have so much to offer. Lest we forget it. They are the stewards of tomorrow.

The event was also enriched by the presence of esteemed guests; Christina Smith, Mayor of Westmount, Jennifer Maccarone, députée de/MNA for Westmount-Saint-Louis and, Anna Gainey MP for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce–Westmount, who lent their support to this movement. All three of them expressed their gratitude for being able to participate in the event. They also acknowledged that for them to move forward on bylaws, education, transportation and fast fashion, they need the youth's help. Their voices carry much weight.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to St. George's School for pioneering this event, to Mr. Grier, Senior School Science teacher, whose unwavering dedication and guidance were instrumental in driving forward this rally at Selwyn. Also, we cannot say enough about the tremendous support given by the entire Selwyn House Elementary School staff, support, teachers and last but not least, the amazing students. They are the fuel for this movement.
