Dave McComber Inspires Grade 8 Students

On September 3, Dave McComber came from Kahnawake to talk to our Grade 8 students before they embark on the Outdoor Education canoe trips throughout September. Dave started with the Ohen:ton Karihwatehkwen, offering thanks to all of the elements of the Earth that sustain life. He told stories of his experiences connecting with nature and gave our students advice before their trips. "When we enter the woods, we are in someone else's home -- the home of the animals." He encouraged our students to take time on their canoe trips to sit alone in nature, listening to the sounds of the trees and thanking the Earth for all that it gives us. - Ms. Schwartz, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Global Education Coordinator
