ECS and SHS Jazz Bands Unite in New York City

The Senior Jazz Band, in collaboration with the ECS Jazz Band, went to New York City for four days to take part in the annual Heritage Music Festival taking place at the famous Riverside Church in Harlem. The 40 member mixed jazz band was put through a high-paced rehearsal on the first day before significantly raising their level of play the next day with an energetic set of three songs for their main Festival performances. The students also got to visit the Empire State Building, Times Square, Grand Central Station, and most importantly, they got to see the famous Hamilton musical on Broadway! The mixed jazz band will perform at the Music Cabaret Concert on May 2 in Coristine Hall and again on May 15 at ECS for their Music in May concert. - Mr. Becker, Arts Department Head
