Grade 11 Biology Students Explore Trauma Care at the Montreal General Hospital

On November 20, the Grade 11 biology class visited the Montreal General Hospital Trauma Centre, facilitated by Code Trauma & the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. Students were provided with a unique opportunity to understand the real-life consequences of risky behaviours and gain insight into the medical teams who treat trauma patients. Students visited various areas of the Montreal General Hospital (MGH), such as the emergency room, CT scan room, operating room, intensive care unit and orthopedics. Students heard from speakers about the possibility of a helicopter ambulance system and the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donations. Additionally, the boys had the opportunity to meet with a trauma survivor who was treated at the MGH and had conversations about the realities of life post-trauma. To end the visit, students made a donation to the MGH on behalf of the Selwyn House School. - Ms. Meghan Dalton, Senior School Science teacher
