After learning fundamentals in class, the Grade 11 drawing cohort ventured out last Friday with sketchbooks in hand to draw from real life. Students spent the morning working from the wonderful natural history collections at the Redpath Museum. They worked through the challenges of sketching and rendering 3D subjects on paper. The boys were particularly drawn to the human evolution and culture exhibits, the Samurai armour and Egyptian mummies being particular hits.
Their engagement at the museum was clear, and it was lovely to see their focus, curiosity, and courteous interaction with everyone we encountered. Special thanks to Mr. Trudeau for the professional photos, Ms. Prieur for help with logistics, and to the welcoming staff at the museum. – Ms. Foran, Senior School Art Teacher
