Annual Full-School Assembly Launches the Year with a Focus on Kindness
Selwyn House School kicked off the 2024-2025 academic year with its annual full-school assembly on September 9. Headmaster Michael Downey warmly welcomed students and staff, reinforcing his message from the previous year by emphasizing the lasting value of kindness.
Following him, Head Prefect Andrew C.-G., a lifelong Selwyn student, took the stage. In his sincere address, he urged his fellow students to cherish each moment, reminding them that time at Selwyn passes quicker than they realize.
Headmaster Downey closed the assembly by inviting the Kindergarten students to stand and turn toward the back of the room, where the Grade 11 and 12 students were gathered. He then asked both groups to wave to one another. This simple gesture showing the youngest students where their journey will lead, and reminding the seniors just how far they’ve come.
