On December 12 and 13, the classes 6A and 6B swapped the classroom for the outdoors at Centre Plein Air Fatima for their Grade 6 Winter Retreat. On the first day, students honed their wilderness skills, learning about compass parts, and how to take bearings, create routes, tie knots, and set up a bear hang. They also practiced starting fires with flint and steel. In the evening, we gathered around a roaring bonfire with s’mores and charades before a restful night in cozy cabins. The following day was the ultimate test of their new skills, with a wilderness challenge under beautiful sunny skies. Laughter and teamwork filled the two day adventure, making it an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the all the dedicated staff who helped make this retreat happen! - Ms. Kelsey Begg, Elementary School Outdoor Education Specialist
