Spring Festival Assembly: Honouring the Year of the Snake

On January 29, Selwyn marked the beginning of the Spring Festival with a special assembly with all Middle and Senior School students to celebrate the Year of the Snake. After a fascinating overview of the festival's history, students performed the captivating skit Legend of the White Snake.

Following the skit, Grade 7 student Marco B. performed beautifully on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument, accompanied by his teacher, Zoey. A lively raffle then took place, with red envelopes filled with White Rabbit candy and chocolate coins awarded to lucky winners. The grand prize was a 3D-printed sculpture depicting the final scene of the skit, designed by Grade 11 student Shen H.

A big thank you to all the student participants, including Edi O., Ho Sen S., Jackson Q., Marco B., Adam S., Thomas X., Tony M., Lewis Z., Ziye Z., Yuri M., Shen H., and Ken G. Special thanks to the parents who supported the production and to Ms. Littman, Student Life and Leadership Coordinator, and Ms. Schwartz, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Global Education Coordinator, for their dedication in making this event a success.
